First Observe Then Serve

“We are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness. … We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us.” President Thomas S. Monson

Did you hear it?

The invitation to Love one another? Sister Burton says that following the saviors example or being Christ like is not always easy for everyone, but with practice we can all become more like the Savior as we serve, his children.  “To better help us Love one another, I would like to suggest four words to remember: First Observe Then Serve.” Here is the link to Sister Burton Talk First Observe, Then Serve

I felt like this goes hand in hand with our lesson this month  “How can I be more Christlike in my service for others” .  The lesson suggests to ask the young women to share experiences they have had recently serving others (especially members of their own families).   We asked them “how did you know what service to give?” and “How did you know that person needed service?”  We talked about “First Observe Then Serve”.  Most of the time you do not even realize that you are observing then serving and the more you practice it the more you are able to observe.  We talked about some of the needs in our ward and what we could do to serve them.  Our RS has been in need of ward members bringing dinner to families so we decided to make freezer meals to help out.  This was a fun activity that helped the YW learn to assemble some frozen meals and most importantly First Observe Then Serve.  We did 2 different meals and made 3 of each.  Below are the pictures of the recipes-   One is a Chicken Broccoli Rice Casserole and the second is Chicken Tater Tot Casserole.
