Heaven’s Help-The Book of Mormon

President Monson said “I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day, As we do so, we will be in position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven’s help in our lives.”  April 2017 Conference Talk

Every year we do a Book of Mormon night and this year we changed it up a bit.  With the theme, James 1:5 and the “Ask of God” being the main point we have been focusing on our prayers and specific questions the girls have.  We decided to do our Book of Mormon night celebrating how much we love this wonderful book and trying to bring it to life.   We had 4 special guests, Sarah- Lehi wife, A Mother of a Stripling Warrior, Abish and the Missionaries.  The Guests from The Book of Mormon told their story in their own words and the missionaries bore testimony about this special book and how it has changed lives.

We tried to divide up our evening by showing some Mormon Massages like Patterns of Light- Elder Bednar and A Book with a Promise, we would talk about what they saw- how they felt and if anything stuck out to them.

We also printed out questions the church put out like “How can I be a better friend?” Alma 15:18, “Why should I attend church?” Moroni 6:5-9, “What should I do next in my life?” Alma 37:36, “What should I pray about?” Alma 34:17-27, and “How can I protect my family?” Helaman 5:12 and throughout the night we would have the girls grab a question and everyone would look it up and then we would talk about it, at one point one of the girls said “Alma has all the answers”.  It was a great night where the Spirit was so strong.  I have a personal testimony of the power and strength of this book, President Benson said we will find greater power to resist temptation, to avoid deception and have the power to stay on the straight and narrow.  President Monson  promised in April 2017 that as we study and ponder The Book of Mormon each day we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear, and to receive heaven’s help in our lives.  I have personally felt each one of these powers in my life as I read The Book of Mormon and each of these strengths is in such need in this crazy evil world where the world calls good evil and evil good.
