Individual Worth-BE-YOU-tiful
“Has the world ever been so confused about what beauty is. It’s not the girl on the magazine that you were sent here to try to be”
(lyrics from Beauty is by Jenny Phillips)
Jenny Phillips Web page
All around us the world keeps trying to tell us who and what we are suppose to be, how we are suppose dress, what is “in” and what is “cool”. The world tells us that beauty is all about our image or our looks, our hair,or how we do our makeup. This can be so confusing to girls/women who are trying to figure out who they are, how they fit into this crazy world. I have met many women in my life, and the women I found to be the most beautiful, were women who were kind, honest & loving towards everyone. As my daughter grew up I use to tell her that she would only be as beautiful as she was on the inside.
We had a class activity last week with the Laurels- it was “Pamper yourself” night. We had the chocolate fountain going, chocolate dipped strawberries (Come on we were pampering ourselves ). We met in my home and had a sister from our ward come and give us some “Beauty” tips. She gave us some “do” and “don’ts” with our hair and our and hygiene . We gave our selves a facial, painted some fingernails and played a little just dance.
I put together the slide show below and showed it
I got the idea from & the song is “Beautiful to Him” by Rachel Thibodeau

We also got a chance to talk about what “True beauty” was and how to get it. “The Lord would tell you that you are each uniquely beautiful. When you are virtuous, chaste and morally clean your inner beauty glows in your eyes and in your face.” “When you are worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost, you are confident and your inner beauty shines brightly”- Sister Dalton
Sister Gibb said “Heavenly Father does not want us to look to the world and follow it’s ever changing trends”
He has asked us to follow him and his never changing standard- a beauty that will never go out of style.
Sister Dalton gave us a charge “Lead the world in a mighty cause to raise the standard and lead this generation in virtue, purity and temple worthiness” “If you have a desire to make a difference in the world- you must be different from the world”
Cucumbers are so refreshing and helps sooth the eyes- it was a pretty sticky and fun night
I am grateful that we are all so uniquely beautiful, if we were all the same how boring would this world be?
Mirrors with “BE-YOU-tiful” written on them were handed out for the girls to take home.
When you look in the mirror do you see who he sees?
