I love decorating gingerbreadmen with my daughters every year. We then take them to our friends and neighbors.

My favorite thing about the season is advent calendars. I love the way the suspense slowly builds and builds and they way the family comes together to complete the activities or simply mark another day.

Christmas Caroling with our young women "No Room in the Inn" version. We called ahead to a few families in the ward and told them we would be caroling for our mutual activity. We asked tbem to not let the girls in. The families stopped the girls while they sang giving an excuse why they couldn't let the girls in. It ended up that we visited families that weren't home as well. We didn't plan that but it worked out great. We ended the night at our YW President's house for hot chocolate and talked about how it felt that no one let us in. We talked about letting the Savior into our lives. It was simple and beautiful. I think veryone loved it!

My favorite Christmas Activity is to listen to my kids sing Christmas carols! I love their voices and hearing them sing. They are all grown adults now, and luckily my daughter made a CD of her own singing of carols and church songs in English and Spanish. The Spanish was for her mission president! She also included one of her younger sisters and one of her younger brothers with the three of them singing "I'll be Home for Christmas" with all three of them laughing and carrying on. Now it is my favorite, since my daughter singing on the CD has now passed away and I can hear her singing and laughing with her older brother and sister. What a treasure that is to us now! I also taught your silent Christmas lesson on Sunday and it was very well received and enjoyed by all! Thank you for putting it out there for us to use! Loved it!

One of my favorite Christmas activities is my family's Christmas eve tradition. We sit around our tree, the only light source in the room, and my father reads the nativity story. Then, we put the babies Jesus in our different nativity scenes. And then, right before bed, we open up our presents of handmade pjs and a little gift. It's a time where we can reflect on lots of things and can feel the Spirit very stongly. 🙂

I love doing acts of service with my family whether it's helping an elderly widow put up a tree, wrapping gifts at the fire station or playing secret Santa to a family in need. Helps us remember ways that we can give back to our Savior for all that he has given to us. Korrin Wing korrinwing@yahoo dot com
