La La Land skit/song
Sometimes coming up with a skit for girls camp comes easy and sometimes it does not, especially when it’s only suppose to be 3 min and incorporate 23 Young Women. BUT this year after watching La La Land it came easy. Why not incorporate the fun music into a La La Land skit/song? The music started swirling around my head and words just started to flow (replace original words)- so we are doing a La La Land skit- skitish, musical (one scene). While changing the words for this La La Land skit I went off of our girls camp theme “Seek his Light” and our scripture which is Helaman 3:35 which says “Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God”
I added things in that the girls are feeling pressure in their lives. So with that came the rewritten words to a couple La La Land songs- One my niece changed which goes to the tune of City of Stars – God of the stars, you are shining just for me- God of the stars, there’s so much I can’t see- but he knows- our path is strait as it is true- through him, our dreams, can really come true. We are not using that one- but I loved it and wanted to share it with you. The one we are using is to the tune of “Another day of Sun” and we are going to choreograph it so to use 23 girls and props like scriptures, journals etc- I can see it all in my head 🙂 Here are SOME of the words “I think about that day, I met him at a Baskin Robbins- wishing for a way- We were not 16 & He was sweet and it was true…” I have the whole song rewritten but the chorus goes “Climb these hills, I’m searching for his light and chasing all that’s bright and true”….
