Salsa Cook Off

In Bishopric Youth Committee we are always looking for fun, creative Activities that will draw our Youth out and teach them something.
Our Young Men came up with this idea, but your Young Women implemented it 🙂

We had no idea how many Youth were going to show up so we kinda had to wing it on how much of everything to buy.

We labeled everything so the kids would know exactly what was what
We had so many options so we would have different kinds of salsa and let our Youth get creative- we made sure to label everything just in case someone did not know what something was.
Looks like fun Huh?

When the Youth arrived, we had them put their name in a hat.  When everyone was there we just pulled names out of the hat and divided up the teams.
We gave every team a blank recipe  card so they could record what they put in the Salsa

When they were done, we put them in numbered tuperware
Everyone tasted each Salsa and wrote which one they liked the best and we tallied it up 🙂

It was a great activity, where our Young Men and Young Women got to interact with each other and make some Salsa
I think this should become an annual activity
and
The Salsa was Awesome!

This is exactly what I was thinking about! May I ask what kind of foods you had to choose from (besides typical, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos ) thanks!

Oh gosh we had so many. Just a few we had 2 different kinds of onions, different kinds of peppers (green bell peppers, ghost peppers etc) we had sugar and garlic, beans, tomatillos, limes and lemons to just name a few – I really think it can be made as big or as small as you want. My sons singles ward did this as a activity and they had a blast and the best turn out they have had in months. 🙂 enjoy
