Step by Step
We have had a very busy month, with our lessons on the
Plan of Salvation,
we have been having so much fun with our activities.
Our youth had the most awesome opportunity
to participate in a ropes course &
the timing could not have been better!
We actually thought we were going to go rock climbing
but we showed up to this
Ahhh the excitement was incredible
Don’t let the photo fool you, there are multiple levels with
the top rope about 65′ above the ground and the lowest level
35′ above the ground. We were given safety instructions, taught how to belay, & harnesses
Step by Step we started out
Full of enthusiasm and confidence
But the higher we got and the more wobbly the wires were
the more frightened and unsure we became.
There were times we tried to make our feet move and they just
wouldn’t budge, we literally had to go step by step.
Many times we said “I can’t do this”
but Step by Step we made it through.
Afterwards we talked about how good it felt being on the ground,
we talked about the fears we had, we talked about how we
felt about finishing the course and what helped us through.
Afterwards the YM president talked about life
and how there are going to come a time in everyone’s
life where they will have to face adversity, &
how it might feel like they are never going to make it through,
or “I can’t handle this”
Mountains to Climb by President Eyring
“You and I have faith that the way to rise through and above trials is to believe that there is a “balm in Gilead” and that the Lord has promised, “I will not… forsake thee” that is what
President Thomas S. Monson has taught us to help us and those we serve in what seem lonely and overwhelming trials.”
“If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble”

I know that not every ward can get out and do a ropes course
or rappel, but find something that will challenge
your young women. Treks are perfect for this lesson as well, because it teaches us (when we are finished) that we CAN do
hard things.
One day when they are facing what might seem like the hardest trial ever, they will be able to look back and know, it may be small steps but step by step they can get through it. They will remember
that Heavenly Father will never give us something we can not handle
Having some of our activities back up or enhance our Sunday lessons is bringing a stronger spirit to our class with the girls experiencing first had gospel applications.
Please tell me what you are all up to 🙂
