The Baking Parable
My Chocolate cake is pretty famous in my ward and in our family. It seriously is sooooooo good and so easy, the only thing I do a bit differently from the regular recipe is I bought some better vanilla and better chocolate. I found that changing those 2 ingredients (better quality) changed the outcome of my cake and made it oh so much better.
The most moist easy Chocolate Cake ever
A couple weeks ago a returned missionary was giving a talk on “Teaching with the spirit” – he said there are 6 ingredients you need to better teach with the Spirit-
1- Search the scriptures diligently (Alma 17:2)
2- Much Prayer (Alma 17:3 & 9)
3- Much fasting (Alma 17:3 & 9)
4- Loaths of Faith – being an instrument in the hands of God (Alma 17:9)
5 – Keep the Commandments (D&C 20:77, 79)
6- Purify your hearts ( D&C 112:28) This is the icing on the cake
When trying to make the best cake possible, I have to use the best ingredients.
When we teach, we bring the ingredients (the best ingredients) and the Lord Bakes!
Our role as teachers is to help others come unto Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost (often times called the Spirit) ‘s role is to teach and testify of the truth. As you teach by that power, the Holy Ghost will touch hearts and testify of the truths you have taught.
I know this to be true in my baking and my teaching, I have found that when I truly use the best ingredients the Spirit is always there in abundance and edifies all of us. Same with my baking, everyone seems to enjoy my Chocolate cake a little bit more when I use the best ingredients.
